The Yellow Jersey break from Allons-y-Pyrenees (AYP) is perfect for the free spirit. You’re not restricted to a set structure of where you must cycle and when.
Guided by our expert knowledge of the roads, you make the itinerary, with an amazing variety of rides available from our base in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
Go on a social ride across flat terrain or tackle the awe-inspiring cols, made famous by the Tour de France. Our favourite rides include the Chateau de Mauvezin, a pleasant cycle through meandering lanes with the impressive restored castle temptingly in sight, and the Col du Tourmalet, an epic ride that should be on every cyclist’s bucket list.
With the breathtaking views you’ll see on your rides, from exhilarating rolling hills to the iconic Pyrenees mountains, we’re not sure you’ll want to stop cycling, but there is plenty for you to do to relax, from venturing into the magnificent market town of Marciac, with its bustling cafes and market stalls, to exploring the local vineyards and lounging on your sun terrace by the pool, or relaxing in the shade outside your gîte, or in the comfort of your own lounge inside your fully furnished holiday home from home.
During your catered cycling holiday break in the Pyrenees, you’ll stay in one of three adjoining gîtes, which are named after three of our most famous cols (because we love them so much!):
Converted from a traditional French farmhouse and barns, and featuring original beams and stonework, the modern gîtes offer an authentic stay in this stunning part of the Pyrenees, and with their own kitchen and lounge, wood burning stoves for the colder nights outside of season, and all bed-linen and towels included, you’ll feel right at home.
Outside, it only gets better, with each house having its own outside seating area — it’s the perfect place to relax after an afternoon taking in the sights on your bike.
The grounds give you a breathtaking view of the Pyrenees, with plenty of space to socialise with other guests or hide away in the shaded areas before your evening meal. And don’t forget the large outdoor swimming pool, why not relax here as you watch the magnificent sunset over the mountains?
If you fancy a ride further afield, we’ll drop you off at the start of your ride and pick you up to take you back to your gîte once you’re finished. If you’d like to explore the area with us, we’ll also accompany you on a ride where you can soak up our local knowledge. We also offer hire of the latest high-end bikes, and when you’re not cycling, you can store your bike in our secure storage racks.
You’ll benefit from half-board accommodation during your 7-night stay with Allons-y-Pyrenees. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and evening meal cooked for you and tailored to your exact dietary requirements.
We also boast an authentic outdoor pizza oven with weekly pizza nights, where you can dine outside or in one of our beautifully decorated communal dining rooms where you can get to know your hosts and fellow guests and dine on delicious fresh food cooked to perfection — with our legendary homemade coffee ice cream for dessert!
Whether you fly into Toulouse, Pau, Lourdes or Biarritz, we’ll come and pick you up from the airport and return you once your stay is over. That means no trying to find us — we’ll come to you, offering the ultimate convenient cycling holiday!
Cool off in our large pool after a hard ride or simply on days you don’t want to cycle. Gaze at the fantastic views of the Pyrenees as you paddle or brush up for your triathlon by swimming hard into a smooth, turbulent-free current of water with our high-performance Fastlane Jetstream.
Just a short distance from our base is a large open reservoir, making it perfect for training or an early-morning swim before your first ride of the day, and if you’ve still got energy after your day’s cycling, follow one of the many local tracks for a run or walk in the peaceful countryside on our doorstep.
From famous cols and mountain climbs (including Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aspin, the iconic climb up to Gavarnie and rides towards and over the Spanish border) to less intense rides along the beautiful Baronnies, with its quiet roads, rolling hills and picturesque villages, there’s plenty for you to experience on your cycling holiday, whether you’re cycling solo, as part of a club or bringing the entire family.
Traverse the famous cols or take a leisurely bike ride along quiet scenic roads through open sunflower fields or winding wooded slopes. Book a holiday for four people or more and get 10% off!
Rachel and Chris are your dedicated hosts at Allons-y-Pyrenees. After falling in love with the beauty of the Pyrenees, they escaped the UK to bring the best tailored cycling holidays to their guests.
A keen cyclist, Chris loves nothing more than taking guests on rides exploring the vast landscapes of the Pyrenees, whether that’s following the wheel tracks of the Tour de France or tackling some of the lesser known and just as tough cols in the area. His most recent ambition is to cycle unsupported from coast to coast across the Pyrenees; make sure you ask him about his plans!
Rachel is a former competitive swimmer and in her element in the Fastlane pool at AYP, but she loves nothing more than welcoming her guests with open arms and getting to know them from the moment she picks them up at the airport and making sure they have everything they need during their stay. Rachel is continuing to conquer some of the cols of the Pyrenees by bike and her challenge for this year is to tackle the mighty Tourmalet in August to watch the Vuelta stage finish...
With Chris and Rach as your hosts, you’re guaranteed a cycling holiday you will never forget. With a stay at AYP, you may arrive as guests, but you’ll leave with friends who will be more than happy to welcome you when the French Pyrenees inevitably lures you back!
The French Government's policy is that deposits will be held for up to 2 years, giving guests the flexibility to rebook at a time that suits them.
Aside from wearing masks in indoor public spaces and maintaining sensible distances when it and about, very little has altered. We would also suggest adding a hand gel to your bike kit. Most cafes, bars, restaurants and shops have reopened and we can recommend the best places to visit.
Yes, with a max group size of 10, but there are no longer restrictions on distances you are able to cycle.
We are a self-contained site with no access to the public. Each of our gites is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised as guests leave and arrive and shared spaces regularly cleaned. Antibacterial wipes and hand gels are available for use throughout the site as well. As we know the area well, we are aware of any new cases of the virus and/or areas to avoid as a precaution. When planning cycling routes with our guests, we can recommend smaller, quieter cafe stops or restaurants and routes away from crowds.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about staying with us and we will be happy to help.
Our guests love our cycling holidays in the Pyrenees, from the friendly hosts going out of their way to give them everything they need to the extraordinary location and range of cycling routes on offer. Here’s what some of them have to say.
A true cycling paradise! We had an amazing stay with Chris and Rach at Allons-y-Pyrenees, with great food, excellent company and incredible riding. Flat, rolling and mountainous - this area has it all, with quiet roads and respectful drivers to boot. As an added bonus, the weather was perfect…even though it was the middle of winter! A wonderful cycling adventure (and very dog-friendly) - highly recommended!

Just had an absolutely amazing 10 days here and cannot recommend AYP enough. Firstly, the location is just perfect. Close to the Pyrenees for those wanting to climb. But head in the other direction and you have the most wonderful rolling countryside for those wanting to explore some beautiful vineyards! The accommodation is 10/10 too. Beautiful gites, spacious rooms and a fantastic swimming pool. But the highlight for me were the hosts, Chris and Rachel. They made us feel at home from day one.
