Have Dog, Will Cycle!

A dog is a man’s best friend, and those of us who have our own furry friends will know how true that is, but for many cyclists out there, planning a cycling holiday abroad can suddenly become a lot trickier when you have to take into account the logistics of travelling with both the bike and the dog and work out how to ensure both said dog and bike are well looked after for the trip’s entirety!

A quick search on Google for ‘bike and dog friendly holidays abroad’ and various similar queries comes up with… well, not a lot and certainly nothing of value. Results show up for one or the other but not as far as I can see for both.

Having established though that 1. It is easy enough to take a dog over to France (channel tunnel, ferries etc) and 2. France is a great place to cycle, now all that remains is to find accommodation that fits the following criteria:

• Is in a great area for cycling
• Provides catered/supported cycling holidays
• Has enough outdoor space for dogs to roam safely
• Offers a dog walking/sitting service during the longer days on the bike

We offer supported cycling holidays in the French Pyrenees and will happily design a cycling package around you and your dogs, in fact, it’s something we think we’re very good at! We’ve had cyclists and their dogs stay with us throughout our season and sometimes, when the cyclists leave to do a bit of cycle touring, the dogs have even stayed with us for an extended holiday! Our spacious and fully enclosed grounds with shaded areas provide the perfect place for the dogs to chill out in during the day and we have tracks and lakes on the doorstep to walk with the dogs whilst you’re out cycling.

And on the subject of cycling… we are in the perfect location for accessing the famous cols of the Pyrenees and the rolling hills of the Baronnies as well as the flatter wine regions to the north. So, if you ‘have dog’ and want to cycle, we can turn that want into a ‘will’!
