Our Message to You
We've been under strict lockdown since the beginning of March. Unlike some other countries, we've not been allowed to go out on our bikes to exercise and could only walk up to 1km from our house. We kept busy, inventing challenges for ourselves, building 'squat' machines out of old bits of wood and even completing a lockdown triathlon, but we've missed having you all here!We are now beginning to see some signs of normality returning, we are officially open again for business; cafes, bars and restaurants are re-opening, and we've finally welcomed our first guests of the season.
If you're thinking about booking a cycling holiday in France, then here's what you need to know...
We want you to feel confident that your cycling holiday with us will be everything that you want it to be, so you need to know what's changed and what hasn't. You'll find below some FAQs that should help to explain things:
• What do I do if I need to cancel due to COVID-19?
The French Government's policy is that deposits will be held for up to 2 years, giving guests the flexibility to re-book at a time that suits them.
• How will COVID-19 affect my holiday?
Aside from wearing masks in indoor public spaces and maintaining sensible distances when out and about, very little has altered. We would suggest adding a hand gel to your bike kit and we're limiting guests to 10 for the moment but we can cycle in groups and there are no longer restrictions on distances you are able to cycle. Most cafes, bars, restaurants and shops have reopened and we can, as always, recommend the best places to visit.
• What precautions are you taking to safeguard your customers?
We are a self-contained site with no access to the public. Each of our gites is thoroughly cleaned and sterilised as guests leave and arrive and shared spaces regularly cleaned. Antibacterial wipes and hand gels are available for use throughout the site as well. As we know the area well, we are aware of any new cases of the virus and/or areas to avoid as a precaution. When planning cycling routes with our guests, we can recommend smaller, quieter cafe stops or restaurants and routes away from crowds. On our Tour weeks, we're staying away from the crowds and watching the professionals ride by on some of the quieter stretches of the route, as advised by the UCI and explained here by Rouleur.
Aside from wearing masks in indoor public spaces and maintaining sensible distances when out and about, very little has altered. We would though suggest adding a hand gel to your bike kit...
We can't wait to welcome guests back to Allons-y-Pyrenees, and are looking forward to lots of new adventures.
